 Cicero Independiente’s Mission And Vision

Our mission is to serve the diverse communities of Cicero and Berwyn with inclusive and bilingual news and storytelling opportunities that elevate local voices and foster civic engagement.

We envision A future where every member of the community in Cicero and Berwyn is informed, engaged, and empowered to tell their own stories, shaping the narrative of their community.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT VALUES

We are community rooted and focused.

We believe in and demand transparency and accessibility from both ourselves and our local governing institutions.

Our work will always be bilingual in Spanish and English.

We believe in being inclusive. To us this means involving and incorporating community residents in all parts of our work.

We value collaborations and believe in sharing our knowledge and skills with the larger community. No one group or person should hold all the knowledge. We all have something to teach.

We are aware of our impact and the power that comes from being able to narrate our stories.

We will make sure to do no harm to our community.

We are independent of any political or government entity in Cicero.
